Almost 20 years ago a local Sixth Form College had just moved away from local authority control and had been using one of the large international firms of accountants to help develop their independent financial systems. They had planned to appoint this firm as their external auditors but had become concerned about the service they were receiving. Consequently, they decided to put the audit out to tender.

The solution

During the tender process Murray Smith explained how the technical quality of the audit work would at least match that provided by the International firms, but that Murray Smith would provide a much more personal service and a high degree of staff continuity.

We also explained that our fees would be lower than other firms as we did not operate from expensive city centre offices.

Murray Smith have now acted as external auditors for this College for 20 years and the Partner has attended every single year end audit committee meeting over this period.

Through recommendation the firm has been appointed to three other sixth form colleges in the North West region.
